Darryl Anthony McGee Jr.

Darryl Anthony McGee Jr. was born November 16, 1984 in Ardmore to the parents of Diana Halstied and Darryl Anthony McGee Sr. He grew up in Ardmore, and in 2003 graduated from Ardmore High School. Darryl loved sports, especially baseball, basketball, and fishing.

Darryl loved people and the feelings from others were mutual. He was the nucleus of his family. His numerous nieces and nephews cherished him. He was very kind hearted, thoughtful and humorous. He loved to write. He wrote books and detailed cars. During his youth, Darryl accepted Christ as Lord and Savior of his life and united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Darryl was truly blessed with all the love he received from family and friends. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 when only 36 years old. Though we believe him to be gone too soon, we know that God knows what is best for each of us.

Darryl is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ella Mae Breath Martin and Verda McGee. He leaves to forever cherish his memories his mother, Diana Halstied, father, Darryl ‘Tony’ McGee Sr., and his wife, Sophia; 6 siblings: Desiree, Charity, Shonda, Shirelle, Destiny and Derelle; stepsister, Lindsay Glover and step-brother, William Kinard; Grandparents, Perry Halstied and his wife, Rebecca; Aunts and Uncles, JoElla Breath, Karen Willis, Kevin Halstied, Trudy Halstied, Violet Halstied, Shameka Halstied, Micale Smith, Keisha Halstied, Paul Howard, Marie Mims, Roslyn Jackson, Derrick Roberts, Cassandra Jackson, Kendra Upchurch; a host of nieces, nephews, great aunts, great uncles, other relatives, numerous friends and acquaintances, including Kreed, a special little pal.
