Frank Edward Purvey, born on August 22, 1962, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, was a remarkable man whose larger-than-life personality touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Frank departed this world on July 4, 2025, but he leaves behind an indelible legacy of laughter, kindness, and love.
A true jack of all trades, Frank dedicated himself to helping anyone in need. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, his generosity exceeding the measure of words. Always a candid soul, Frank was never shy about sharing his opinions, letting you know how you looked, whether good or bad, without hesitation. His straightforwardness was often accompanied by the infectious laughter that he effortlessly brought into every room he entered. It was never a dull moment when Frank was around; he had a special gift for keeping loved ones entertained while simultaneously getting under their skin—a rare talent that will surely be missed.
Frank received his education at Ardmore City Schools, where his vibrant spirit began to shine. He was proud of his roots and held a deep connection to his hometown, which shaped him into the person he became. Through both his professional and personal endeavors, Frank formed countless friendships, always welcoming new faces with open arms. He never met a stranger, and the warmth he exuded helped forge connections that many may not have experienced otherwise.
Frank's passion for life extended to the finer things, including his love for name-brand clothing, stylish man purses, and shoes that showcased his unique flair. He found joy in expressing himself through his appearance, a testament to his vibrant personality and zest for life.
In the months leading up to his passing, Frank faced the challenge of stage four cancer with incredible strength. Diagnosed on June 4, 2025, and placed on hospice care, he met the news with a remarkable sense of peace. "I'm alright with it, because God has the last say," he stated, showcasing the unwavering faith that had always guided him. Frank was ready to meet his maker, exemplifying a courage that brought comfort to those around him during such trying times.
Throughout his life, Frank found immense pride in his family, especially in his beloved son, Patrick, and his three cherished grandchildren—Haidyn, Aubryna, and Audryna Piggee. He often spoke of Patrick with admiration, celebrating his character and strong work ethic, thrilled to witness the man he had become. Family gatherings, laughter-filled evenings, and heartfelt conversations will remain a cherished part of Frank's legacy.
He is survived by his son, Patrick (Kim) Piggee, six brothers: Robert 'Keith' Purvey (Deidra), Victor Jones, Vincent (Shelia) Purvey, Darrnell Monroe (Velma), Gerald (Maggie) Monroe, and Bryan Williams; one sister, Sherri Purvey; and three grandchildren. Frank is also remembered by his special friends: Charles 'Chuck' Skinner of the home, Edna Albert, Debra Cohee Douglas, and Kathleen Jackson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and numerous friends who were touched by his boundless spirit.
Frank is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Lee Fields Purvey, his father, Robert Joseph 'Bobby' Purvey, his maternal grandparents, Ethel and James 'Tootie' Fields, his paternal grandparents, Velma Ross and Robert Purvey, and two sisters, Bobbie Ann Purvey and Kim Jones. Their memories will forever be intertwined with his, as he embarks on his next journey.
Those who knew Frank Edward Purvey will forever carry the joy he spread and the love he shared. A visitation will be held at Kirk Funeral Home in Ardmore on July 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at First Baptist Church in Ardmore on July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM. As we celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, we hold onto the laughter and love that Frank gifted us, knowing he will remain in our hearts always.
