In loving remembrance, we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Gwendolyn Hill Willis, affectionately known as Gwen, whose spirit departed this earthly realm on July 30, 2025, at the Baptist Integris Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. Born on October 28, 1954, in Los Angeles, California, Gwen graced this world for nearly seven decades, leaving behind a legacy defined by her unwavering love and tireless dedication to others.
Gwen's professional journey began in the legal field, where she excelled as a paralegal and legal assistant, specializing in probates and bankruptcies. Her commitment to her work was evident until her retirement in 2018, which paved the way for her passion for children to flourish. With a heartfelt desire to nurture and educate, she opened her own childcare center, embodying the very essence of care and compassion that she demonstrated throughout her life.
A devoted member of the Chosen Peoples of God Church, Gwen was a true servant of God. She was a passionate advocate for those with disabilities, often traveling to extend her support to those in need. Gwen had a remarkable gift for offering sage advice, and countless individuals sought her counsel, knowing they would receive wisdom wrapped in kindness. Her personality shone brightly; she was a star, radiant in her selflessness and her ardent desire to uplift those around her.
Gwen was cherished not only for her professional accomplishments but also for the deep love she held for her family, particularly her children and grandchildren. She was the heart of her family, taking pride in nurturing and caring for them. Surrounded by her beloved children, Baeyan and Ursula, who were her world, Gwen departed this life filled with love. She also found joy in the company of her grandchildren—16 of whom she adored—and her 39 great-grandchildren, who brought unparalleled happiness to her heart.
Her life was further adorned by beautiful hobbies and interests, including event planning. Her meticulous attention to detail ensured that every occasion, particularly her granddaughter's wedding, was nothing short of perfect. This passion was especially meaningful when shared with her daughter Ursula, creating cherished memories that will linger in the hearts of her family.
Gwen’s education and experiences shaped her into a remarkable individual, renowned for her capability to make everyone feel valued. The memories of her profound compassion for others will linger—she truly loved and cared for everyone she encountered.
In her passing, Gwen joins her family who have preceded her in rest: her mother, IRuth Hamilton Brown; father, Roscoe Hill; brothers Donald and Marcus Hill; sister Brenda Kay Brown; and special nephew Rondre Hornbeak, alongside her uncle and aunt, Delbert and I.V. Hamilton.
Gwen is survived by her loving family, including her cherished children, Baeyan N. Brown & Dawnelaina of Oklahoma City; Ursula Hill & her fiancé, LyDell Williams of Oklahoma City; and a special niece she raised, Ronesha Roberts & her husband, Derrick of Ardmore. She leaves behind her devoted boyfriend, Bobby M. McCarty, along with her loyal special cousins—Joyce Ann Musgrove, Carolyn Lima, Karen Smith, and Betty Ruth Banks—accompanied by a multitude of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who revered her spirit.
A Visitation will be held in her honor at Kirk Funeral Home in Ardmore on August 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on August 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
