Jessie Angelo Acota, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Born on July 1, 1958, in Carter County, Oklahoma, Jessie lived a life marked by dedication, creativity, and a deep love for his family and passions.
Jessie grew up in the Healdton area, where he attended the Healdton School system. After completing high school, he embarked on a career that began in the rugged oilfields, working as a floor hand on oil rigs. His strong work ethic and determination were evident in this challenging environment. Later, he found his true calling as a Monument Designer and builder, a profession through which he expressed his skill and artistry.
Music, art, and wrestling were central to Jessie's vibrant personality. He was known for his love of playing pool in leagues and had a deep passion for singing and playing his many guitars. Jessie’s home resonated with the sounds of his music, and his artistic talents left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to witness them.
Family was the cornerstone of Jessie's life. His children, Jesse Acosta and Angela, were his pride and joy. Tragically, his son Jesse Acosta passed away in 2011, and his heart carried the weight of that loss. Jessie’s devotion extended beyond his immediate children; he lovingly raised several of his grandchildren, always surrounded by their laughter and presence. The memories shared with Jessie as a grandfather are treasured deeply by all who knew him. Family moments were filled with warmth, joy, and an abundance of love, creating a legacy that will live on through generations.
Jessie is survived by his daughter Angela (David) Huntley of Evans, Georgia, and a devoted circle of grandchildren—Moriah Bean, Zayden Acosta, Trevor Bray, Michael Mills, Hailey Bethea, Tristen Acosta, Charlie Bean, Gabriel Mills, Jaden Bean, Xandor Bray, Kinsley Bean, and Liberty Bean. His great-grandchildren—Caspian, Ridge, Emi Rin, Jesse, Jasmine, Calypso, and Averly—also carry forward his spirit and legacy. Among his extended family and friends who continue to hold him in their hearts are his cousin Jimmy Daniels and his special friend David (Ginger) Linerman.
Jessie was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanie "Akaska" Mayo; his father, Floyd Mayo; his beloved son, Jesse Acosta; his wife, Debra Mills, who passed away in 2021; and his brother, Jeffery Acota, who passed away in 2022.
Jessie Angelo Acota's life was a beautiful tapestry woven from hard work, creative expression, and boundless love for his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, his joyful spirit, and the unwavering presence he offered to those he loved. Though he has passed, the memories and legacy he leaves behind will continue to inspire and comfort all who were blessed to know him.
