Lucy McGee Anderson

November 2, 1929 — July 31, 2025

Ardmore

Lucy McGee Anderson, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, graced this world with her vibrant spirit from November 2, 1929, until her departure on July 31, 2025. Born in the close-knit community of Milo, Oklahoma, Lucy lived a life defined by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends.

Lucy embraced her work with grace, dedicating herself to cleaning houses, where her attention to detail was only rivaled by her passion for cooking. Renowned among her family and friends for her culinary prowess, she relished trying new recipes and took great pride in her ability to bring joy to others through the meals she prepared. She found fulfillment not only in her kitchen but also in her penchant for fashion, embodying the essence of a true diva. Each day, without fail, she would don her best attire and meticulously apply her makeup, ensuring she never stepped outside her home without looking remarkable.

Her personality was as vibrant as her appearance; Lucy had a fierce devotion to her family, standing resolutely against any who dared speak ill of them. Her beautiful tenor voice resonated in the hearts of those who heard her sing, echoing through the years as a member of The Southernaires and later added to her legacy as a singer in her community. Lucy's faith was a cornerstone of her life, beginning at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church before she became a devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

As she journeyed through life, Lucy's relationships flourished. She leaves behind her son, Carlton Gene Anderson of Ardmore, and her granddaughter, Kathleen Abram. The warmth of her spirit is also preserved in the lives of her four sisters: Claudette Anderson of Milo, Alvis Knight of Ardmore, Ola Abram of Oklahoma City, and Barbara Ann Anderson and her husband Dwight of Ardmore. Additionally, Lucy’s legacy continues through many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and her beloved St. Paul Baptist Church family.

Though predeceased by her parents, Effie (Jackson) and Earnsby McGee, and her husband, Alvin Gene Anderson, Lucy also mourned the loss of two sons, Gerald Williamson and Kenneth Atkins, along with five brothers who have since passed—Eddie Lee McGee, Cornelious McGee, Eastman McGee, Eulas Ray McGee, and E.M. McGee.

As Lucy's family gathers to celebrate her life, they will remember her laughter, her passion for cooking delectable meals, her unwavering dedication to those she loved, and her enduring strength. Her viewing will be held at Kirk Funeral Home in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on August 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, followed by a burial service at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in Springer, Oklahoma, on August 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

Lucy McGee Anderson’s grace will forever linger in the memories of those who were fortunate to know her, a radiant soul whose love touched the hearts of many.
