From his earliest days in Ardmore, Robert’s journey was marked by ambition and a keen mind. As a young student at Douglass High School, he embraced his education wholeheartedly, graduating with the class of 1967. His inquisitive spirit and dedication propelled him to Langston University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1971. Robert’s love for learning was rooted not only in a quest for knowledge but also in a desire to build a solid foundation for his life’s work.

After college, Robert found his way to Tulsa, the city that would become his home for decades. There, he built a career with an oil company, dedicating many years of unwavering service before his well-earned retirement. Through his work, Robert exemplified loyalty, steadfastness, and pride in a job done right—values that radiated to all who knew him.

But there was more to Robert than the sum of his professional accomplishments. He was a proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys, his voice unmistakable every autumn Sunday as he cheered for his beloved team. In quieter moments, fishing offered him solace—a pastime that matched his patient, thoughtful demeanor. These passions reflected not just what he enjoyed, but who he was: someone who approached life’s challenges and triumphs with joy, resilience, and hope.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Sandra Howard and Elaine Gill, whose lives have been enriched by his presence, his laughter, and his support. In memory, we also honor those who have gone before him: his mother, Helen Turner; his father, Hershel Gill; and his brother, Patrick Gill. Their spirits live on in the stories Robert told, the love he shared, and the enduring legacy of their connection.
