Rodney Eugene Forbes

January 16, 1961 — April 13, 2026

Ardmore

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rodney Eugene Forbes, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, who left this world on April 13, 2026, in his hometown of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Born on January 16, 1961, Rodney lived a life rich with love, commitment, and a spirit that touched all who knew him.

Rodney was a proud graduate of Ardmore High School, class of 1979. After completing his education, he embarked on a lifelong career marked by dedication and hard work. He spent many years with Agers Plumbing before later bringing his skills and steady hand to Blue Bonnet. Through his career and beyond, Rodney exemplified integrity and loyalty.

His outgoing personality was a beacon to many. Rodney loved nothing more than spending time surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughter and stories. He was passionate about his hobbies—most notably, his love for riding horses and embracing the cowboy life. Countless hours were joyfully spent riding horseback, especially alongside his beloved brother Hank and other siblings, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Faith was integral to Rodney's life. He was a lifetime member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized in his youth. His devotion extended to active service as a faithful usher for many years—a role he embraced with great pride and reverence.

Rodney's soul took flight early Monday morning, leaving a void in the hearts of all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Forbes Sr.; his bonus father, Charles "Hank" Banks; his brother, Bobby Ray Forbes Jr.; and his sister, Yvonne Long.

He leaves behind a loving and supportive family: his mother, Dorothy Jean Banks; his two daughters, LaRodree Dawkins and India Williams; and his bonus daughter, Kendra (Wardell) Williamson. Rodney’s brothers—Ralph (Linda) Forbes, Calvin Shannon, Christopher Banks, Michael (Aminta) Banks, Marcus Ray (Ruby) Banks, and Carl Banks—stand united in their grief and remembrance. He is also survived by Charla Evette (Jerry) McClain, Sheila (Willie) Tiller, Cherise (Ronald) Ross, and Raquel (Paula) Banks, dear companions holding his memory close.

The community is invited to celebrate Rodney’s life and legacy. A viewing will be held on April 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Home, located at 6 E Street NE, Ardmore, OK 73401. The following day, April 25, at 11:00 a.m., a Celebration of Life service will take place at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1020 7th Ave. NE, Ardmore, OK 73401.

Rodney Eugene Forbes was a man whose heart was as wide as the open plains he loved to ride. His memory will forever gallop in the spirits of those who were blessed to know him. Though he has departed from this world, his legacy of kindness, faith, and familial devotion endures eternally. May he rest in peace, forever riding beneath the endless skies he cherished so deeply.
