Shan Loyce Petties was born on November 20, 1958, in Hugo, Oklahoma, to the late Minister Eddie Faye Foreman and Fernando (Jack) Redwine. She left this world peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the local hospital, surrounded by her loved ones, who felt her warmth and love until the very end.
Shan's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her community and a profound love for her family. A proud graduate of Ardmore High School’s Class of 1977, she pursued further education at Langston University in Oklahoma, nurturing her diverse passion for knowledge and service. Shan spent many years at Uniroyal Tire Plant in Ardmore, and her caring spirit led her to become a licensed phlebotomist, licensed dental assistant, and licensed cosmetologist. However, her heart found its sweetest contentment in 2018 when she opened “The Mighty Warriors,” a home daycare that allowed her to share her love and vitality with children, shaping young minds and hearts in the process.
Her community saw Shan’s light shine brightest through her many acts of kindness. She was a cherished member of Macedonia Baptist Church for over 60 years, involving herself in the Kitchen Ministry to serve those in need. Her contributions extended beyond the church as she became a proud member of the Ladies of Action and served as President of the Ardmore Douglas Alumni Association in 2025. Shan’s selflessness was evident as she volunteered tirelessly for the elderly, offering rides to appointments and shopping trips—her time and heart always open to others.
Throughout her life, family was the cornerstone of Shan’s existence. She found joy in spending time with her children: Don Vonte Pirtle of Dallas, TX, Shanna LaTyce Marshall and Dwayne Ahmod Marshall, and her bonus daughter, Basha Marshall of Ardmore, OK. Her siblings—Sherry Lynn Petties of Ardmore, Sheila (Ken) Washington of Tulsa, Scotty Petties of Ardmore, Sonya (Mark) Clark of Bridgeport, CT, and Stanley Petties of Midwest City, OK—shared countless memories filled with laughter and love. Shan's connections with her extended family, including Fernando Redwine Jr. and Renee Redwine of Dallas, Sandy Redwine of Oklahoma City, Martha Ann Robinson of Fort Worth, and special sister Vickie (Leonard) Sanders of Ardmore, were invaluable threads in the fabric of her life.
As a grandmother, Shan glowed with pride for her grandchildren: Juaren McGee Pirtle, Donisajah McGee Pirtle, Tykwan McGee Pirtle, Adonis McGee Pirtle, Keirra Pirtle, Dominy Pirtle, Dallas Pirtle, Dejuan Pirtle, Reese Pirtle, Hannah Kelly, Saje' Cohee, Zuri Willis, Royalty Marshall, Celeste Greer, Tatyaina Marshall, M.J. Marshall, Courtland Marshall, Tyra Marshall, and Jaelyn Marshall. Each moment spent with them added joyous chapters to her story, intertwined with the laughter and innocence that only grandchildren bring. She also cherished the bonds with her 18 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends and the embrace of her Macedonia Baptist Church family.
Though Shan now rests alongside her beloved parents and those who have passed before her, including brother Lance Redwine and nephew Scotty Petties Jr., her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family and community will forever resonate within the hearts of those she touched.
A Celebration of Life honoring Shan will be held on February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where friends and family will gather to remember a remarkable woman whose spirit will continue to inspire and uplift. As we bid farewell to Shan, let us carry forth her beautiful spirit of giving and love, ensuring her memory lives on in all our hearts.
