Sherry Lynne Williams

December 24, 1958 — March 10, 2026

Ardmore, OK

Sherry Lynne Williams, a vibrant and unforgettable soul whose spirit filled every room she entered, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Born on December 24, 1958, in Ardmore, OK, Sherry's journey was one marked by fierce love, unyielding honesty, and an abiding commitment to family and community.

A proud graduate of the Ardmore High School class of 1977, Sherry's roots ran deep in her hometown. She was baptized at a young age and remained a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the Ushers department, embodying a steadfast devotion to her faith and congregation.

Before forging her own path, Sherry learned the value of hard work and family entrepreneurship at her mother’s renowned establishment—“Try Me Groceries” and the Gourmet Restaurant. It was in this lively environment that she met her beloved husband, Eddie Lee Williams Sr., in October 1977. They married in 1979 and sustained a marriage filled with love and resilience for 46 remarkable years.

Sherry’s fierce independence and outspoken nature were legendary; she was never one to mince words. Known for her directness and wit—often sprinkled generously with humor and a bit of cussing—she delivered advice whether it was wanted or not. Sherry's candidness drew many to her side, knowing with certainty precisely what she thought and feeling the rare gift of genuine, unfiltered friendship.

Her proudest accomplishments were not just professional but deeply personal—the raising of her two cherished children, Eddie Lee Williams Jr. and Tinia Dione Williams. Sherry’s passion extended into early childhood development, where she devoted yearly courses to maintain Sherry Williams Daycare. There, she combined her love of children with her culinary flair, delighting the kids and her family alike with gourmet meals made with love. Cooking was more than a hobby; it was her way of nurturing those closest to her.

Sherry’s family includes her devoted husband Eddie Lee Williams Sr., their children Eddie Jr. and Tinia, her sisters Wanda “Bobo” Kemp and Sidney Stell, bonus sister Debra Johnson, maternal aunt Cecelia Owens, maternal uncle Larry Louis, and nieces India Williams and Amanda Kemp. She also held great affection for her great-nephews Jadence and Jordan Wright and Santana Harris, as well as great-niece Willow Barnes. Among her close friends, Martin Maytubby was a treasured friend.

Sherry faced life with unshakable resolve, never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind and standing firm in her beliefs and values. That rare quality that “we never had to wonder what Sherry was thinking because she was going to tell you” it embodies the powerful legacy she leaves behind—a life lived openly, loudly, and with an unwavering heart.

Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved mother Velda Jean Louis, her father Sidney Stell, and brother-in-law Gary Kemp.

A viewing to honor Sherry’s life will be held on March 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a visitation with family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Home, 6 E Street NE, Ardmore, OK. Her Celebration of Life service will take place on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1020 7th Ave. NE, Ardmore, OK.

Sherry Lynne Williams’ voice may have quieted, but her presence—the fiery heart, the unmistakable laugh, the steady guidance—will forever echo in the lives she touched. She was, simply put, irreplaceable.
